Entering a new decade….

So, Its caught up with me, the big 30 and I cannot wait to see what it has in store! I think it’s going to be interesting in maybe 5-10 years from now looking back at my first blog posts and seeing how much has changed. I actually think my 30’s will be my best years. Your ’20s are about finding out who you are and honestly, your 30’s probably are too but just with giving less of a shit what other people think.

So how did I spend my birthday? The only logical way, In Amsterdam. What a bloody eye opener that was.

So what did I discover?

  • I live in the wrong country
  • I can’t drink without taking a nap in ever bar
  • I can sleep anywhere
  • Hangovers are horrendous (not that I hadn’t figured that one out)
  • I really should cycle, noone is overweight even though weed is openly smoked, a LOT
  • Walking through the red light district just made me want to ‘rescue’ all the girls. This is probably the time to point out that I’d hope they are there voluntarily and make 4x what I earn per day minimum
  • I love the bike taxi’s
  • Bitterballen are life
  • Clogs are not practical footwear to wear around Amsterdam unless you want completely bruised feet

I am however fully milking this birthday and throwing myself a Snoop Dogg bbq. I’ve drawn myself  Snoop Birthday board for people to sign, wearing Snoop clothing, Playing Snoops music, Basically, it’s all about me and Snoop!

With the realisation I’m no longer in my 20’s I did consider changing the name of the blog since 29 is no longer relevant but who cares!

I feel like turning 30 puts a lot of pressure on a person. I’ve started to ask where is my life going? Should I be having kids? Where is my career going? Am I too old to be rapping in my kitchen at 2am full of gin? My conclusion is to carry on being selfish, do what I want and see what happens!

Anyway going to shoot I’ve got grey hairs to dye and voltarol to rub on my joints!

If anyone has any tips for the dirty 30’s please do share!

Its Ciao for now xxx

Money doesn’t buy you happiness…..WHATEVER!

I forever hear the quote “money doesn’t buy you happiness!” and I, for one, think that is BULLSHIT!!!!

Do not get me wrong I am not saying money is the be all and end all. Having your health and the love of a good family is worth its weight in gold but allow me to point a few things out…..

  1. Food, food makes me EXTREMELY happy hence why I look like I ate a victoria secret model but do you know how I get food? With money! – Money makes me happy!
  2. Trips away. Holidays, breaks, even a night at the seaside makes me happy. I feel invigorated, refreshed and oh yea broke because even if I’m not venturing out of the UK you need to pay to sleep somewhere (unless you’re camping rurally in which case you’re braver than I am with the uncertainty of UK weather), Petrol, train or coach to get there! – Money makes me happy!
  3. I won’t lie, I can be fairly materialistic, not in the sense that possessions mean more to me than anything else, more that shopping is like my crack, there is no better feeling than buying a new outfit and wearing it for the first time as far as I’m concerned! I genuinely get a buzz from shopping, not just any shopping, online shopping. If I feel low or am stressed about being broke I shop to make myself feel better. I understand this only makes me more broke but in that second that I ‘proceed to checkout’ I feel euphoric!!!! – Money makes me happy!
  4. What do I need to pay my bills and mortgage, oh yes that’s right Money! Whilst bills DO NOT make me happy I have to pay them to live comfortably and not have a repossession agent turn up at my door! Am I happy if all of my bills are paid, Yes, therefore, you guessed it – Money makes me happy!
  5. As a female, looking like I’ve been stranded on a desert island and dragged around a jungle backwards by a tiger is something I try and avoid. Unfortunately, I am not someone who is naturally easy on the eye. In order to not scare the public when I leave the house I wear makeup and get my roots done, obviously, this is partly for me too as my confidence can often be found in the gutter somewhere but you know what I have to do in order to get these things? Spend money – Money makes me happy.
  6. Going out socialising. You have no idea how many social events I turn down because I’m skint?! LOADS! I have such FOMO it used to kill me inside. Now I just say no to basically everything because the truth is I CANT BLOODY AFFORD IT! On the odd time I do go though I make sure I have a whale of a time because it won’t happen again for a while- Money makes me happy

You know who says ‘Money doesn’t make you happy’? People with Money! I tell you now you take that Lamborghini away and replace it with a FIAT Punto and let’s see how happy you are then. Let’s take you out of the 6 bed 5 bath house and stick you in a high rise and see how overjoyed you are!

Now I’m not saying I want to be a billionaire (I do) but I wouldn’t turn down a mil or 2, for this reason, I will be winning the lotto soon!

Now I’m sure after reading this you’re going to think that girl is an idiot! Please don’t take this post literally, of course, money won’t solve all of your problems but it takes some of them away. It can also bring a lot of harm depending on how it’s spent so this is completely down to the person.

As a kid, we didn’t have a lot at all and I never felt hard done by at all but as an adult, it breaks my heart to think my parents would struggle in the ways they did financially but worked so hard for us not to see it.

Let me know what you think. Does money make you happy? Comments welcome!

The after Christmas bloat!!!

Wow, where do I begin other than to say I’m SO FULL!

Literally the entirety of 27th December was spent in bed eating. Eating anything! It started with bubble and squeak and all went downhill from there.

In one day I had destroyed the cheese selection, eaten all the bread in the house not to mention the chocolates.

I’ve eaten to such excess that I’ve woken up still feeling so full!

It looks as though a natural disaster has ripped through my house leaving plates, glasses and wrapping paper in its path. If we had an attempted burglary they would think our house had already been hit and move on!

If I’m honest I confined myself to one room to ignore the disaster that had been left from Christmas. I can’t bare to look at all the ‘stuff’ I need to find homes for so I just decided to pretend it’s not there for the day instead.

Today will be my ‘get shit done day’ although I am still considering doing it with the help of prosecco just to make it bearable. Yesterday I ate, today I drink!

One of my favourite things about this time of year is all judgement goes out the window! Chocolate roulade for breakfast, oh go on then. Gin at 10am, why not!

Come the new year I have no choice but to hit the healthy eating and workout regime hard so I don’t look like a toilet roll cover on my wedding day! With that said I am going out with a bang!!!!

Until that sad day comes in which I have to face reality I shall be eating and drinking to complete excess!

However you spend your time at Christmas I hope you’re having a wonderful time!!!!!

Can somebody tell me how willpower works?

What I want to talk about is willpower or my lack of.

I really admire people who stick to things, anything. People who go to the gym daily, people who stick to diets, people who just simply do what they say they are going to.

I’ve done dry January. It lasted a day.

I’ve done diets that have lasted a week or 2 then fell off the bandwagon and never got back on.

I just can’t seem to stick to anything at all and it’s winding me up!

Why do I have no willpower? Why can’t I stick to ANYTHING! I literally mean anything! I’m the person that flakes on plans. I’m the one who says ‘yes let’s go for coffee’ then doesn’t call for 6 months. I’m the person that everything seems like a fab idea at the time but when it comes to it just can’t seem to muster up the willpower to go through with whatever it is.

I tell myself most Mondays this is a new week and a new me, I’m going to change! I NEVER change.

I got up at 6.30 and did Yoga this morning and told myself this is a new me. I literally have every intention of doing the same tomorrow. Will I? Who knows!

What is it in the brain that makes some people able to stick to what they want to do and others completely unable to stick to anything? Well, I did some research and according to this article its linked to blood sugar levels. It makes sense, when I think of all those people I know that have the most willpower and drive are those who are fit and healthy! But can blood sugar really have such an effect on willpower to do so many other things? The article said to stick to whole foods such as:

At some point, those of us in this position have to come to the realisation we are a product of what we put into our bodies both mentally and physically.

I am going to TRY (as I say I’m a flakey person) to consciously think about what I’m eating (probably less about what I’m drinking but its a start) and the effect it’s having on other aspects of my life! Christmas may throw a few hurdles my way and I’m ok with that but either way today is the start of my TRYING to make better decisions!

We have to start somewhere (even if I am starting for the 500th time).

I think, subconsciously, half of me never completing anything is because I’ve told myself I cant before I’ve really properly tried!

So here’s to giving it a go and having a bit more faith in our own ability xx

Christmas is coming and Sarah’s getting fat!

I thought it was appropriate with Christmas coming to have a moment of appreciation for all things food and drink.

Now, whilst I need to continue the wedding prep diet I have decided I will give myself a sabbatical from denying myself the indulgences that ultimately make me happy over the Christmas period and frantically start again in January.

I love love love to cook but Christmas dinner is my ultimate favourite to do! Its the one day of the year where your dinner should come with a defibrillator and mine will be no different! From the turkey to the pigs in blankets to the roast potatoes, roasted parsnips, roasted carrots, sprouts (which btw I think are disgusting but for some reason force myself to eat them because I feel its necessary) to everything else in between.

I feel like if you don’t feel like you may slip into a mild coma after Christmas dinner was it even Christmas dinner?

Onto pudding, I’m not a fan of fruit in a pudding. If it has any form of nutritional value it should NOT be in the pudding category as far as I’m concerned. I want to feel physically disgusted with myself after eating dessert. If I don’t question if I should really be eating it quite frankly I don’t want it.

What I also love about Christmas is that after all that dinner and dessert, give it an hour or so and you can incorporate some biscuits and chocolates into the situation without anyone batting an eyelid. Everyone is still in such a haze of ‘what just happened’ that they don’t have time to stop and engage their brains to say no to yet more gluttony.

Then comes the drinks. I’m a big mulled wine lover and what I love about Christmas drinking is that you can put Brandy into absolutely anything and it becomes socially acceptable. Mulled wine with a dash of brandy, Christmas pudding with a dash of brandy, breakfast with a shot of brandy, just me, never mind.

Also, everything is on offer so, as a hoarder and a self-confessed ‘lover of buying tat’ this is my season! Ahh look a Christmas jumper for my wine bottle I MUST HAVE THAT! I feel like the marketing for useless items nobody will ever use is specifically aimed at me and me alone! I’m QVC’s absolute dream! If it’s badly made, has absolutely no use whatsoever I can guarantee it will find its way into my shopping basket!

My top tips for this Christmas are:

  • Eat, eat absolutely every last thing.
  • Wear lycra trousers or something with a bit of stretch, you will need it.
  • Drink responsibly (the more you eat the more alcohol will be soaked up). Don’t get so wasted that you throw your Christmas dinner up. That took a lot of effort. Pace yourself!
  • Have fun, play games, be with people you love being around.
  • Don’t stress, if dinner is late it’s late, If you burn the carrots you burn the carrots, it’s about being together not being perfect.
  • Don’t pressure yourself to get everybody the best gift, that’s not what it’s about.
  • If there are children around make it as magical as you possibly can, again this isn’t about spending money, read stories, watch Christmas films together, make some paper snowflakes, the build-up with kids is one of the best bits!
  • Watch Elf, every single day until Christmas!

Take a leaf out of Snoop and Martha’s book. Let the Christmas spirit/s bring you together even if its an unlikely pairing. Make baked goods. Be merry (I’m sure Martha was after some of Snoop’s special bronies). Be indulgent. Be positive and have a very very merry Christmas!!!!

Modern day dating WTF!

So, first of all, I think we need to have a moments silence for anyone dating in today’s society.

I thankfully missed the age of Tinder and the other dating apps although I did have a dabble at POF until a lady emailed asking if I’d sleep with her husband and film it or send her a graphic email, at that moment I realised this was not for me.

not getting involved

There are a few problems I have with the age of the dating app:

  1. They are full of filtered photos! Nobody puts an average picture of themselves on a dating app and let’s face it that’s how we look the majority of the time! It’s false advertising that you can’t sue for! If they have butterflies or flowers around their heads swipe left, they are filtered and DO NOT look like that.
  2. Whilst someone may sound like a fun guy/girl they are using their very best lines, potentially even asking their friends what to say. Basically, 70% of what they’ve said may have come from their friend who has major game, when you meet this person they could be as dry as a sponge cake from Lidl! Yet again false advertising!
  3. If you’re a guy seeking a girl then she’s going to tell you she’s normal, not like other girls, doesn’t get jealous, you have had no human interaction to gauge this. Also, we all say this when we meet you but at least if you hear this face to face and she’s not giving any eye contact or laughing hysterically while she’s saying it the chances are she may be lying if she can look you in the face and say it shes merely exaggerating the truth. Maybe try face timing to ensure you haven’t just agreed to a date with Myra Hindley! DISCLAIMER – Some girls aren’t actually at all Psyco’s, they are few and far between, good luck finding her and if you do NEVER LET GO!
  4. If you are a girl seeking a guy from what I hear the biggest lie you will be told is their height. For some, this seems to be a common trend. They’re going to add a minimum of 2 imaginary inches to every aspect of their physical self. Now, this confuses me because if your dating a girl that’s 5ft 3″ and you’re 5ft 6″ you’re still taller, why lie. Also, a lot of women aren’t bothered if you’re taller or not. It’s better to tell the truth than have her turn up to your date in heels fuming! This will not lead to anything but an “I just don’t think there was a spark but we can be friends” conversation.
  5. The majority of your decision to speak to someone is purely based on looks. This bothers me. Of course, there has to be a physical attraction but that can grow more when you get to know someone.
  6. The confidence of approaching someone and sparking up a conversation is attractive. Also having someone approach you is flattering. Put a bit of effort in, it will say a lot about how the rest of your relationship will pan out.
  7. You cant smell through an app. I’m sorry and this is superficial but if someone looks like Tom Hardy but smells of bin juice you are not going there, I hope!

Whichever route you go down in the world of dating I wish you all the best and I DO NOT envy you!

you got this

It’s been a minute

Hi Guys,

Just checking in, I am just letting you all know I’m still here. This isn’t yet another project I’ve  given up I’ve just been busy with work, wedding planning, sickness bugs and life in general.

I’m your stereotypical ‘Too Busy’ girl however if I actually sat back and prioritised the million and one things on my mental to do list i’d most likely get much more actually done so that’s what I’m going to do.

To do

Ill be back very soon once I’ve caught up a bit. Until then Ciao for now!

Believe in yourself!!!!

I think this is a perfect example of not letting anyone put you off something you want to do.

No matter how big or small if it gives you a sense of accomplishment then go for it!

People can be jealous and unsupportive but this is because they are threatened by your success.

As the worldly wise S Club 7 always told us ‘reach for the stars’ 😄😉🤗
